The company i work for has this afternoon issued redunno notices to 10 people 3 from one dept 7 from another so far my dept hasnt been issued with any althou i dont see that lasting. Not knowing the first thing about redunno can someone please give some basic info, basically firstly i presume the job postion is redundant and not the person doing it as we are sure that the people sadly loosing their jobs on monday will have some other member of staff doing their job on tuesday, plus is redunno payment capped for example ive been there 24 years and am nearly 50, i understand you get a week and half weeks money for every year youve completed over age 40 or 41.
So keeping it in round figures say im on £500pw if i got blown out on monday how much could i expect to see.
I just cant believe they told people on a friday afternoon just as we left and gave the affected to date a letter and then say basically "have a nice weekend we will let you know monday".
Best part of it is that our dept in which there are 5 is quite obviously most overstaffed whislt the depts that have been affected to date arent to a point.
One other thing one person who is effected has 18 years service yet only has 2 years to go before they retire can the company offer to pay him the two years plus abit on the top and say "sling ur hook" or do they have to pay him the full service entitlement?
All in all not a good day

Max is 20 years. The statutory limit per week is £430. You would get 1.5 weeks pay for each completed year over the age of 41 and 1 week for each completed year up to 41.
In addition you may be asked to work notice or be paid in lieu. The notice is likely to be taxed. The redundancy payment is not up to a max of £30k.0 -
Forgot to answer the second bit! As there are fewer than 20 affected there is no minimum consultation period it just needs to be "meaningful".
There is no compulsory retirement age so they could not "buy out" the did fence between now and age 650 -
You would also be entitled to 12 weeks noticemake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
