in IVA & DRO
Hi,
I have very recently paid off my IVA in full 100p to the £1. I was approx 2 years & 4 months into the IVA. I have also managed to pay off a large secured loan on our property so, as of this week am debt free (apart from the mortgage of course).
I've also managed to put a considerable sum aside & wondered what are the chances that my Bank will provide me with a better mortgage even though I have a long way to go with regards to re-building my credit file. I realise the IVA won't drop off until 6 years have passed. Also the last thing I want is credit (i never want to apply for anything ever again) but the mortgage is a must and this would be the only thing we would want to change, as currently we are not with the best of companies. If we could get a better deal, it would mean that we could save more.
Also anyone who's managed to pay theirs off early - do you have any tips on what I need to do regarding my credit file - is there any point doing anything about it now or would it be better to stick it out until the 6th year has passed in order to start sorting it out?
It is a very strange feeling to be "debt free". I've worried and stressed over it for quite some years now. I just want to let others know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and whether you come in to some good luck, family helps or you just sitck it through and pay it off - you will get there and it will get better.

Beetlebug, if you have a decent deposit, pop over to https://www.iva.co.uk, there is a mortgage broker on there called Ryan who has done an amazing job at helping people post IVA to secure a mortgage, even before it drops off your file, have a chat with him and see what he could sort outAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00
