A farmers' market is a market in which farmers, growers or producers from a defined local area are present in person to sell their own produce, direct to the public.
All products sold should have been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or processed by the stallholder.
FARMA, the National Farmers' Retail & Markets Association independently assesses and certifies farmers' markets round the country to make sure they're the 'real deal' so you can be confident you are buying the freshest, most local produce possible, supporting your local community and economy, and helping the environment by reducing food-miles.
Farmers Markets are popping up everywhere now and adults and children alike love choosing good fresh foods.
I thought it is worth a thread of its own to add your local market for others etc, so please post below including:

So let's eat fresh vegetables that haven't been around the globe first and support our local farmers.

You can forget any so called Farmers markets in London!
These have started to appear in the more affluent areas, but they're even more expensive than supermarkets...eg sell a carrot with the soil still on it & charge three times the price to Londoners - pure brilliance.
Aren't farmers markets meant to be cheaper than everywhere else?0 -

The farmers markets I have been to are roughly the same price you pay in the supermarket but obviously the food is fresher.
I wouldn't mind paying a 'little' over the top for good food but not expensive prices, how do they expect to compete with the supermarkets if they do?
Am making a lovely roast now with fresh potatoes, carrots, sprouts, cabbage and a leg of lamb... all for the same price as a supermarket.0
