how long after searches are complete?

How long would it typically take for a move to happen after the searches are complete?

We have a first time buyer buying our place and the person we are buying off is moving into a new build (or will move into rented if that falls through)

Buyer of my house has a mortgage with HSBC but is using her own solicitor if that makes any difference?

Searches take about a day to complete, some solicitors can get them done within hours.

Unless this solicitor is on the very limited HSBC panel (43 firms in the UK) I wouldn't hold out much hope of the matter completing quickly at all.

The solicitors acting for HSBC will ask lots of daft questions, lose papers sent to them, and want them again, want searches repeated because they won't like those that have been done, etc, etc.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

OK I think Northampton holds the record for returning a local search electronically in 13 minutes but it is still true that some Councils can take up to a month to return them.

If your buyer is getting a HSBC mortgage and his solicitors are not one of the magic 43, its as long as a piece of string, but guessing I'd say anything from 3-6 weeks
