Egg Loan - who do we claim from?

Having gone through paperwork, my dad was sold PPI on a loan (think it was 2005) which didn't cover him as he was self-employed - despite him telling them he was self-employed and submitting a self-assessment.

Was this mis-sold?

And if so, Egg is gone and the loan has been sold to a DCA, so who do we write to claim it back from?
Will it come off the debt? The original loan was £15k and there's about £7k remaining (it's in a debt management plan).

    Hello there

Some policies still cover for self employment, but not all, so it could be worth checking this over first, you can ask the lender to provide you with the policy details, free on request.

You still pursue the ones who set this up, but I believe that Barclays are dealing with EGG cases now.
Even if the account is with a DCA, the liability still lies with whoever sold the policy.

Please be aware that any refund maybe used towards the debt balance, anything remaining should be forwarded to your dad, but do no quote me on this because it can differ from one business to the other.

I am sure I did read a post on here yesterday that EGG complaints are being dealt with by Barclays now, maybe someone will clarify on this soon.

    Good luck.

We requested the terms about two years ago, as we tried to cancel the PPI then and it definitely doesn't cover him.

So we need to write to Barclays?
