Auto Direct Help

Hi, I was wondering if anyone was able to help or give any advice,

I took out a car insurance policy 14 months ago with Auto direct, I have no problem until now,
I received a final demand for £71.00 , i have had no other demands, I phoned them up and they informed me it was due to me apparently giving incorrect information.

I brought the car in 2002, and my mum was the registered keeper as i was young and couldn't afford the insurance, I was a named driver,
Once i turned 25 in 2005 I transferred the log book into my name.
In 2006 i transferred it into my ex partners name and then back into my name.
I have remained the owner of the vehicle since 2002, The car insurance company are saying that the registered keeper is the owner which i don't believe to be true, (i am in the motor trade) They state that according to dvla recorders the last registered keeper change was 2007, which i don't dispute, and they are saying that 2007 is the date i should of put as my purchase date, so due to this they say i have incurred a charge.
They have added this onto my monthly direct debits as if i didn't pay they would of cancelled my insurance and charged me £75 for cancellation and admin fee. I didn't want the hassle of finding new insurance.
I have also informed them that i recently went bankrupt, Im not sure if that relevant.
It has taken them 14 months to see a problem.

Can they do this?
Many Thanks for any help or advice
Louise

Looks like you commited insurance fraud for years and got away with that and they have got you on a minor matter now.

    I find that funny.

They would have asked are you the registered keeper and owner when you took out the policy.

Send them a copy of the front page of the V5. Have a read you cant miss it :)
