What do you mean by 'laid off'
Was he 'finished' or just 'laid off temporarily.
If the company goes under redundacny pay will be paid by the government. So tell him not to worry, make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

2 years ago he was laid off temporary
in feb20th this year he was finished due to no work
how many years would he be entitled to
at the moment the company is still trading
but could be going into receivership due to lack of work
who would he have to contact if company went bust
thank you0 -
Has he had anything in writing, tell him to keep a diary and note everything down.
If he was never 'finished' and was just laid off in February he should be entitled to redundancy pay and this all depends on his age.
7 years (if he has been consistenlly on the books) 1 weeks pay for each full year of work, (half a week if under 21, 1.5 weeks if over 41.
7 weeks notice pay, and any accrued holiday pay.
Tell him to go to the company and find out what is happening.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
