i use adwords, and depending on what words you want submitted it can be as cheap or as expensive as you want.
You have a daily allowance, and once that is spent it just stops showing your site.
hope that helps.

Adwords is a paid for subscription. That will make it come up on other peoples sites and as sponcered links on googles search results.
To make it come up in the basic search results, there is alot of work. You need to setup "META Tags" And also submit the site to google. A sitemap will also help, but arnt easy to do.

For good or for bad, Google's the main baby you want to be on.
The "add url" google submission works but be prepared for a long wait. I've seen Google take up to 3 months to list a site properly.
Dmoz (the google directory) is useful to be on, but you're at the whim of God knows who. I think I managed to get one site in.
Among the criteria Google uses to rate a website is who links to it.
So the more and "more popular" websites which you can get to link to you, the higher posititon in Google you'll get.
Doesn't work the other way round though, so no point sticking a link to the bbc on your website.
It's a real artform to get up there without giving money to Google. I suppose that's why people simply just go for Adwords.0 -
hi, i have submited my url to quite a few search engines but that takes a while and will not appear in search definitelly... I am more after a way where I pay and it definitelly comes up if someone searches for key words, what are the best options there and what is the lets say annual cost if any1 is aware of that pleasE?
Thanks for your comments0 -
submit to the major search engines/directories for free, they all allow free submission. If you read the t's & c's, even if you pay they don't gurantee to list it!! Also make sure you submit to dmoz.org, as this is still used by some engines.
You really need to do some research on Search Engine Optimisation - this is a bit of a dark art and some companies charge a fortune for doing diddly, whilst others do actually get results.
Important points to remember, your content needs to change, you need to make your site search friendly and you need to make it accessible.
If it's easy to use, current and people can find relevent information from their searches, folk will return.

There is a piece of software called web position gold - it analyses your site (and you can compare against a competitor) to see how optimized it is to certain search engines - including google. I'm sure you can download a free trial.0

I use Adwords, and pay anything up to 50 pence for a click. Some clicks are a lot cheaper, but you wont get much traffic from Adwords if you're not prepared to put your hand in your pocket.
The gamble is that for every 10 people that click through to your site for 50 pence each, you make at least one sale that is more than the cost of those ten clicks; ie, you need at least one of those 10 people to be spending at least a fiver.
Ask yourself if 10 percent of your visitors really do spend that much.
Be warned-if you arent careful, your Adwords spending will spiral out of control, with no sales being made to cover the costs.
Instead of Adwords, it is always worth creating at least one text-rich static page in your top(or first)-level directory, carefully using as many of the keywords that relate to your business activity (you will be penalised for repeating too many words). Google will index this page quite quickly, especially if you also create a Sitemap document and register it with Google.
One last thing - if you're on a "free hosting package" without your own hosting, you are really going to struggle.
Happy hunting.:beer:I know nothing - really!!0 -
Google adwords
https://adwords.google.co.uk
You'll have to do the research on it yourself.
First you create an advert using the link above.
Basically you bid on a word or phrase that someone types in.
On the right hand side of google search results are Adverts.
Google puts your ad in there if you bid high enough.
For example
"mortgages" may cost you (I'm guessing here) £10 a click-through.
"armadillo fur" may cost you 2p per click-through.
You put a limit on how much you wish to spend a day.
Once your limit is reached, your advert disappears for the day.
Use a third party to moderate how Google charges.
They can be a little off the mark sometimes in terms of numbers of clickthroughs.0 -

Nowt for my suggestions, apart from your time obviously doing the research suggested.
You have to remember that unless you are offering/presenting something that nobody else does (a bit unlikely methinks!) then you are in competition with others to get your site as high up the listings as possible.
The trick is to make your site different to the competition - you have to find things that the average client/user is going to search for, that aren't used currently as search terms - which is incredibly difficult as other people will have beaten you to them and will be using them aggressively.
It's a tough thing, but the best thing you can do is research how SEO actually works, what you can do for free/cheaply to raise your profile and what the costs are to engage someone professionally.
Be aware though that SEO is a constantly moving target - google change the way they look at sites (the google dance) and so one day you MAY be in the top 10/20 sites, the next you're struggling to get shown in the top 100.
If you have a niche offering, as long as the site design/content is accessible and current, then you'll get away with things relatively cheaply. If however, your offering is already covered then you will struggle unless you pay.
A word of warning on Adwords, make sure you fully understand how it works or else it can get expensive and you won't see the results you want = money down the drain.
I could ask a whole bunch of questions but I think, from reading your posts, that you haven't designed the site? If that's the case, and you want to keep the costs down, then you will have to also get a greater understanding of site design in general.
Not intentionally negative, but you have to research your market, the basis of any business plan.
Good luck,
