HSBC Credit Card Late Fee

I just logged onto my online banking from work to find I've been charged a late free on my credit card.
I'm going to ring HSBC as soon as I get out of work. I pay money off my card the same day I get paid (last day of the month). I've never had a problem with this other than when I've been paid late in the past.
I'm going to set up a direct debit tonight to stop this happening again but the charge has taken me over my card limit.. are they going to charge me again for going over my limit?

Good idea to set up a DD.
As for the rest of it, it's simple. You know the payment due date. If you paid after that date, you pay the late fee (and get a late on your credit report). You know what your credit limit is. If you go over it, you pay the fee.
Phone them. be nice and ask politely if they will waive the fees on this occasion although your OP implies this is not the first time you have had a problem so they may not agree ...0
