Infrared device problems

I am trying to download data from a Dive computer (Uwatec Smart Pro) using their SmartTrak software. I have installed an Infrared device called the MA-620 USB Infrared Adapter to enable me to do this. Although the device appears to be installed correctly, i.e. it recognises the Dive computer when it is within range, when I try to download data from the Dive computer using the SmartTrak software I get a message saying that the Smart Pro Dive computer is not connected.
I have taken both the Dive Computer and the Infrared Device to the Uwatec Service Office and both devices worked first time, without a problem. I can only assume that there is a problem with my Mesh Computer Win 98, or the Infrared settings on my computer.

Can you offer any advice as to where I may be going wrong, or the settings I should be using to use this device correctly ?
