European Breakdown Cover

Hi,

We're off to France for a week and need European breakdown cover. Rescue My Car have quoted £32.50 but that seems a bit steep for such a short period. Anyone got any other suggestions?

If we breakdown, can we just join the AA/RAC from France on the spot? I know that would be more expensive but I'm working on the assumption that breakdown is unlikely (4 year old car).

    AA/RAC charge over £30 for European cover in addition to a normal policy.

    Do you have UK breakdown cover? If not and you're thinking of getting some, you could try http://www.quotelinedirect.co.uk/breakdown/ which provides full UK and European cover for £59 per year (with an option to pay monthly), which I think is very good value.

    I haven't looked into the details, but I very much doubt that you would be accepted for any new breakdown policy with any provider if you were already broken down abroad.
