Household Income

I applied for a new credit card, just to use for travel as there are no overseas usage fees on it. The application form asked me for other household income, and I entered my wife's salary, as she is part of the household. They then gave me the credit card with a £5k limit, even though I'd just got a credit card from the AA with a £5k limit back in January.

I've cleared a few loans recently so that might make banks anxious to give me more credit, but would putting my wife's salary on it have made a difference? Is that what the Household Income box is for, or is it meant for my own personal savings interest, investment income etc - i.e. did I just make a fraudulent application?

Cheers,

If it asked for household income then I think you would be correct to include your partners income, that would be how most people would interpret the question. Unless the form specifically gave an explanation and defined what you could include in that box.

I don't think you need to worry that you have done anything incorrect or fraudulent.
