huge npower rise in direct debit payments

Hi , I cannot believe that my direct debit npower bill has jumped up so high.
i knew prices were rising but to this level , its unbelivable.
I do not use much gas , take showers hardly any baths ,do little cooking as im on my own in a bottom masonette flat , an hour heating in the winter , had a elec heater the 2p an hour ones which was only on for approx 3 hours a day as i froze for the rest of the cold winter.
yet my d.d has gone up from £47 to £110. according to the statement i have used 5004 kwh of gas in 3 months..compared to last years bill of 3000kwh.

was thinking of going back to prepayment but there will be a charge to change from sign online 25 to pre payment....so im stuck in a vicious circle.
been trying to contact npower but they are busy

    Hi guspoppy,

That is quite a big jump!

Do you want to send me your account details to
forumresponse@npower.com and I can take a look and see if this is correct?

    Best wishes,

    Adam

OK, the NPower rep has offered to help but for the benefit of others all the reasons you state for low (or unchanged) consumption are irrelevant to a billing issue but you don't state what is relevant, that is the *exact* details of the bill opening and closing readings, specifically whether either or both readings are "Estimate", "Customer" or "Actual", and regardless of the type of the most recent reading, whether it is reasonably close the reading on the meter today.

Just a quick comment, a 2p/hour electric fire is a 100 watt lamp, I suspect your heater was using more than that, do you know its wattage?
That gum you like is coming back in style.
