Tesco Jersey taken 3 months to take money out of my account

I checked my online bank account this evening and saw a payment taken out for £11.97 on the 23rd of February. It was from Tesco Jersey. I couldn't remember ordering anything recently so I looked at my Tesco online account, and my last order with them was on the 9th of November 2006. I ordered quite a few dvd's and cd's for Christmas presents. How long after you buy something can they take money from your account? I never noticed if it had been taken out last year or not, as I had ordered quite a few things (I know I should check these things. Tesco Jersey take the money from your account when they send something out, so if you have 1 order with 5 items on it you could have up to 5 withdrawals for that one order).

It was fortunate I had money in my account. You don't expect for something to take more than 3 months to come out of your account. I wouldn't have been happy if i'd occured a charge from the bank because of this. I tried phoning them tonight but the lines were closed.

This has been raised many times before. You authorised them to take the money by entering your card details. I think you might be talking in terms of years when it comes to how long they have to take the money, although someone else may correct me.

They're well within their rights on this.

I expect to have to pay it. I did buy the stuff. I'm just not happy about it having taken so long.

I phoned today and they said thay can take the money out up to 6 months after the order had been dispatched. They said they try to do it as soon as possible, but if it had been a particularly busy period then it can sometimes take longer.

They managed to take the money out for everything else on the order though. Oh well.
