0871 numbers?

Hi,

can anyone tell what the call rate is for a 0871 number?And any web sites doing a cheap rate for them?

Call costs vary (depending on the numbers' 5th, 6th and 7th digits) between 3p/minute and 10p/minute according to BT's Specialised Numbers Price List but, no real surprise, you'll not find many in use which aren't the 10p/minute variety!

0871 numbers are already starting to creep in as replacements for 0870 because users of 0870 numbers will be no longer be allowed to take a cut ('revenue share') of the call cost from February 2008.

There are no cheap rates/times or gateway access numbers so the prices on that BT list are what you'll pay per minute if you call from a BT fixed line. Some other providers don't publish their rates (others, like 18185, don't even carry the calls) so, as with 0844 numbers, I recommend always sending such calls over BT if you have to make them.
