removing history on google

how can i get rid of the drop-down box that appears when i type into google search box, that shows everything i've previously looked at?
i know how to clear history but that doesn't work for this.

Or if you are using IE7
Click Tools > Internet Options
Under "Browsing History" click "Delete" then "Delete forms"
Click "yes" to confirm0 -
If you only want to clear Google searches and not all forms, put cursor in search box, press down arrow key and keep pressing delete key on highlighted text.0
