    The money side?
    or practical ideas?
Can't help with money side :(
    Practical ideas
Have good sort out prior to moving.
My gran (who's moved more times than I've had hot dinners) has taken rotting bits of foam to new home (no idea why). Food that has gone out of date. eg a jelly with sell by date oct 95, she has moved twice since that date taking jelly with her! :o
Ask local shop to save you cardboard boxes.
Put each rooms contents into box and mark on top eg living room.
When you get to new home that box can go straight into new living room to be unpacked there.

Enlist the help of people who can do the lifting for you. Your role is to direct them to do what you need to be done. You have recently had surgery so DON'T lift stuff yourself. I know you may feel as if you can do it - I did and ended up with more than a few problems. I always thought that I knew best but now I have to swallow my pride (and stubborness) and admit that I was wrong. TAKE CARE. Wish I could help out.

    Hi my suggestions are;

    1. Be ruthless with your rubbish, now is the time to do are really good clearance.
    2. Pack heavy items like books in smallish boxes so that individual boxes don't get too heavy
    3. Mark each :D box with a rough list of contents and the room it is to go to.
    4. Keep clothes on hangers, cellotape four or five hangers together and pull a black bag over the top like a suit carrier. This means you can keep your clothes hanging till the move and hang them straight back up at the other end.
    5. Leave vital items till last, kettle, cups, t.bags, cleaning things and vacuum cleaner etc.
    6. Get as many helpers as you can !

Good luck and lots of happiness in your new home. :D

Great tips in the posts above, we have moved 3 times in the last 2yrs!!! aargh!

    Alison's little tips ;D

Cheap packing stuff like bubble wrap / boxes on ebay - they are "buy it now" so you can get hold of it quickly.

Have a spare toilet roll handy incase the new place you are going to haven't left one. :(

A man with a van will save you dosh rather than using a big company.

Make sure you have important documents on you and not packed - just incase - like passports, birth certs, etc.

Ensure large bottle of plonk is at top of the kitchen box as reward at end of the day ;)

Dont do what I did last time I moved.  Put a cheque in a dresser drawer that had to be given on moving day and promptly forgot about it!!     ::)

Removal men were not very happy when they had to move a load of furniture from the lorry to get to the dresser drawer. >:(

Suggest you keep important items you need on the day all in one place.
I say what I like, I like what I say!

weather is good forecast, although sky black at the moment. hopefully will brighten up tomorrow.

all packed except essentials, kids packed off to grandparents, and all i have to do is all the silly little jobs you never think of, like telling the bank i'm moving, and the council tax, and water board. (did manage gas & electric.) so for anyone moving in the future, these things being done help lots. :-[ :-[ :-[
