Blocking channels on old sky digiboxes

I've got an old Pace digibox - BSKYB 2300 - and I want to block a few channels. I am not subscribing to sky but do have an old sky viewing card stuck in the machine. I know it probably is not needed but I have not got round to chucking it away yet. Anyway when I get to the parental control screen, a message comes up telling me I need to insert the sky viewing card into it's slot and does not let me get any further. So what I want to know is - is it possible to block channels withouit having a sky digital card?

If you remove the card it will have no effect on what you can watch. Plus you need a current card with a monthly subscription to use the channel blocking and other facilities.0
