caster sugar - cheap/alternative??

You can use granulated sweetener but may need to adapt your recipe a bit as sweetener does not provide the bulk that sugar does. Don't replace it weight for weight or you will use about 10 times too much! Replace it by volume - 1 tbsp for 1 tbsp for example.
