Is it best to spread purchases around on more credit cards?

At the moment I have a Sainsburys mastercard for food bills and occasional petrol purchases from sainsburys if I happen to be passing and I need some. For all other purchases i.e. petrol clothing and other misc etc I have a nationwide card.
I make regular small purchases from amazon (games, kindle books, dvds) so I was wondering whether its best to apply and use credit card from there so I am benefiting from lower interest and my debt is therefore spread out. Both current cards are paid off in full every month.

If you are paying all the cards off every month, there will be no interest charged, so it would be best to put everything on the card with the best rewards / cashback.

And if you are purchasing something large which you cannot pay off in full within a month ideally put this on a separate card to your normal spending that you do pay off, on to your card with the lowest APR.

On top of this I assume that when you shop at the online stores, you're going through the Nectar site first to get all those points on top from Amazon as well as the share from the Nectar credit card.
