Yes I have heard of that before, I know someone who lied on a CV to get into Alliance and Leicester, she is still their 10 years later.
I also know of someone who lied to get into a credit union, she lasted weeks until she was found out and sacked.0 -

I have stretched the truth once or twice, ie overplayed a certain skill or experience in the early career days but only when it was concrete that it wouldnt come back and bite me in the a*seDont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0

I can understand why people might be desparate and would lie, but if they don't even run around like hellfire trying to actually get the qualifications they lie about having once they're "in", then let them get the sack, they're cheating others out of a job after all.
When it's the other way round and some chip-on-shoulder jobsworth wants to stop you getting a supermarket job when you have a degree, based on some kind of envy or class nonsense, then I have no problem with leaving info out.0 -
I have never put any lies on my CV as what you write is checkable. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0

They hope to gain the job! I'd have been unemployed all my life if it wasn't for lies on my CV. Luckily I've managed to secure full employment.
CVs are about selling yourself and telling the potential employer what they want to hear. If your qualifications, skills and experience do not match EXACTLY what the company is looking for then you won't get the job as there are millions of unemployed all after the same positions.0 -
Yes of course I've lied on my CV, most people's CVs have lies on them. It's the way of the world.
Companies lie often to employees too.
A very good point and one I think most companies are probably guilty of - my last few certainly have been!
Last one wouldn't even give us a contract, made up reasons to deduct money from the pay etc.
The one before that promised "plenty of overtime available" and gave me two or three days of it in 3 years
I've always tried to be honest with organisations I've worked for but the more sincere I am with them it seems the more willing they are to screw you over yet those that really take the mick out of the company seem to get a hell of a lot of respect and favourable treatment.0 -
I think you will always be found out somewhere down the line. I have no lies on mine.0
