About to spend £15k - Worth using a card for beneifts?

in Credit cards
I'm about to buy a car for around £15000 and after I sell mine I won't need a loan or anything.
Is it worth getting a credit card or anything like that to gain in some way? I'll be paying it off almost immediately.

No. You're likely to be charged a fee by the dealer that would probably outweigh any benefits you get.
And the chance of a £15k limit in this climate are slim, to say the least.
Pay cash and haggle your boots off.0 -
Many dealers will impose a surcharge of 2 or 3% for using a credit card, so if you were getting any other benefit (cashback, tesco points etc), they would need to be better then the surcharge. Of course if the car turns out to be problematic, you do have the section 75 protection on your side.0

Ah, never thought about a surcharge.
Car's haggled and I'm happy, just thinking of ways to get a little more back!0 -
Pay £1 by credit card (even if they charge you a fiver for it)
Then if the dealer goes bust and you have a problem, the credit card company will pick up the tab (eventually) for the full cost of the problem.
I learnt the hard way. A car dealer went bust before paying the warranty company for the money I had paid for a warranty. I hadn't paid by credit card so I have to pay for the same warranty again:mad::mad:We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

It's still under manufacturers warranty so shouldn't need that.0

It wasn't a new car, it was out of the manufacturer's warranty period. The warranty I'd paid for was for a period of 2 years cover. I had to pay twice. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

I've got a £15k limit on my card. I used it when I replaced my car last year. Haggled a discount to match the surcharge.:j0
