  • Union rep also advised no promise of a job after 5 years either even with 100% perfect record. They can simply let you go. They are not allowed to keep you as agency worker after 5 years is all. Don't expect a job.

Think very carefully before accepting a job at JLR if you have a half decent job, especially if you want to get a mortgage etc. You must have 3 years under your belt as agency with most mortgage lenders. I had a very difficult time getting one and i paying over the odds for it due to being Manpower. I want to leave but can't afford too until my remortgage date comes up in 18 months which means i'd have been here over 3.5 years by then so can get a 'normal' mortgage rate.

As stated the money is good for fairly simple work which is the only positive i can say about the place.

To everyone dreaming of getting a job here, I've been there for 3 years and I am dreaming of getting away from the place. Yes it's decent pay but it certainly not a decent environment to work in.

Why is it not a decent environment to work in ?
  • @Markojack01 are you contracted or manpower?

Also when your manpower be prepared to be moved around to different jobs or between FA1 and FA2 or body shop.

I must just be unlucky but been here over 1 year now and been moved 8 times because contracted people have took my job.

That can happen to anyone, all based on length of service.

Had a bloke working with us a couple of weeks ago who had been moved from his job after it was de-manned (only a 4 man section) and he had nearly 30 years service!
  • I'm contracted have been for 3 years nearly. That doesn't mean that I didn't have to move from Fa1 to Fa2. It's just not a nice place to be. I hate the politics there and the new daily rumours etc.

Rumours are they are cutting numbers in easter, no manpower at all. update in the next few weeks.
  • There are over 2000 agency at Solihull alone. Not gonna be building that many cars then if they cut them all.

I presume he is talking about the Halewood plant. The management are looking to make their annual efficiencies.

    Could be Castle Brom.

Heard today that all the Manpower there are being moved to Solihull and they want another 200 volunteers to move.
