Most of the new starters are just temps, just till the new car gets running down the line smoothly then most if not all of them will be laid off.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but anyone starting in Halewood now I would advise you against making any long terms plans on the basis of this job.Why do you think they told you you would be off for 4/5 weeks when everyone else in the factory is off for 2?
As for learning your 2nd job on your 4th day they must be easy jobs!On my line guys that have been there years are taking weeks to learn, and most importantly, hold jobs.
I was in one of the first new waves of staff, and Paul at manpower said the staff starting in August were all going to be short term. In my group of 60 that started I was one of the lucky 4 (that I know of), who got put straight onto the LEN shift patern. Everyone else is perm days until the shut down. Fingers crossed they are all a good signs.
Ive been put on the glazing section (T4), along with two others. I think the people we are replacing are being moved onto repairs.
Oh, and they have already let some people go for lateness etc.0 -

Weekly pay 1 week in hand so your first pay will be on 11th July , but bare in mind you won't get paid for shutdown as you havnt been there long enough. Just a heads up. On days it's £327 a week on shift it's £381.
Word of advice sign up for the union !0 -
