    Hi all! Great news bt1!

+ Spoke to insurance and they confirmed our claim is approved. So relieved! :j I do have to find the money to cover the excess, of course.

yorpington when I had my accident a couple of years ago when I received the payout they just deducted the excess from the cheque they sent me. I think that's the way it works?

dnms That's how it's always worked on my pet insurance etc, but because we're claiming for the loss of a specific item while we were out (personal possessions clause on our contents insurance) they want to replace like-for-like. I don't mind doing it this way - the excess is only 10% of the cost of the replacement!

€185 for a new passport!! Plus whatever it will cost for me to get it sent to Paris (where they are now processed centrally for expat Brits!). Probably another €25, as that is what they are charging (mandatory too, I might add) to courier it to me!

I'd better adjust my budget then, for the coming months, to save for this expense! Oh yes, and you have to pay by CC!

I've also remembered that there is a health bill at home, that I budgeted for, but haven't paid yet. So I need to do that tonight.

  • Morning everyone..not been around for a few days at it was my birthday at the weekend and wanted to forget my money troubles for a bit..well I'm back and ready to crack on!

I'm having a day off today, which isn't very DFW as I'm self employed so not earning anything, but I'm hoping to not spend any money by:

Completely cleaning the house from top to bottom
    Doing all the ironing
Listing some kids clothes on ebay
Making a meal for tea from scratch out of all the bits lying around
Not using the car at all- kids wont be pleased that they have to walk home from school, but hey ho!
Making a costume for my youngest for book day on Friday

Think that will keep me busy- ooh and amongst all that I'm going to sit in the garden and enjoy the sun!

Have a good day everyone :) xx

    OK, update:

    - [STRIKE]Bring in own lunch (I went for egg salad and cucumber sandwiches with a yoghurt & some fruit today!)
    [/STRIKE] Yum!
    - Bring the cucumber home as they are cleaning the fridges at work on Friday morning, and I'll forget otherwise! - Have set a reminder on my phone for this
-[STRIKE] Eat the extra apple I have at the office (it was my mid afternoon snack for yesterday, but I was busy and forgot to eat it!)
[/STRIKE] Done, just need to eat the other apple I brought in with me today for my afternoon snack
    - [STRIKE]Order a Birthday card for brother (1st April is the day) on Moonpig (too late to send anything from here)
    [/STRIKE]
    - OH is cleaning/wiping the old laptop for me today! :D
    - Post other items on Ebay
    - Prepare lunch for tomorrow (veg soup)
    - Have a nice home made meal for dinner (from stores) - I'm thinking 'sausage casserole!'
    - Do some clothes washing
    - Do some dish washing
    - Put clean clothes away
    - Hoover the rugs in living room and in kitchen
    - Sweep floors
    - Dig out the hayfever tablets, as it seems to have started already
    - [STRIKE]NSD!!! (I have nothing to buy, and have so far resisted the temptation to get a diet coke - it's worse than giving up fags!)
    [/STRIKE] LSD instead. :D
    - As with Bt1, aim to drink lots of water (instead of nasty, evil diet coke) - Doing well so far! :D
    - [STRIKE]Check out new passport details
    [/STRIKE]

    - Pay health bill when home
    - Adjust budget to account for Passport costs in coming months

And thanks for the welcome Ziggy!

hope you had a good birthday elly-spendaholic - was it a big one?

Well, not a nsd as nipped to Mr T's for using the post office that is in there. sold step daughters ipod on ebay at weekend so wanted to send recorded delivery.. always a long queue! 15 mins this time!! grrrr - something to do with it being manned by tesco staff not post office staff.. but not enough tesco staff trained to mann the desks... hmmm

well anyhow.. i digress.. had some lovely 2 pack leggings and a 3 pack vests at 7.00 each..so i got those for the dear step daughter.. she is lovely and seems to shoot up every time we see her.

had my weigh in last night.. gained 5 pounds!!! think while i was off.. i over indulged in lots of trifle ( to soothe my sore throat) and stilton and crackers.. ( cause i love them... and felt like as i was ill i should have my favourite foods... ) SO well I feel V.bad now..

stopped at shops yesterday and purchased more muller light yogurts as they are good on the ww to have for my breakfast.. and i resisted oliver adams bakery at lunch and just bought a chicken chilli wrap..

planning on shepherds pie.. loads of veg tonight.. so hopefully getting back on the wagon.. 12 weeks till wedding so should re lose those five pounds..

omg perni.. i hope you get the venue etc sorted xxxx

    Today I:

    - sent off an application for a 3.1% cash ISA (this isn't technically DFW but I'm keen to put just a little in each month to keep myself motivated)
    - paid off $75 of my debt! There was $75 sitting in the US bank account I use to pay off my student loans - I feel so stupid forgetting about it as it would have done so much good a month ago. $71.65 is going onto interest but I'm trying not to think about that!
    - agreed to have a friend over to watch films instead of going out to the cinema - saving £12 for the ticket alone! Hooray!
    - booked a B&B for a friend's wedding in June for £50 (two people) instead of at the hotel they recommended (£110)
    Since March 2012:
    Paid off: $3,985.80
    Owe: $16,230.44

I attempt to clear all my debts by my 30th birthday at frugalcitygirl.com!
