Need help wording a letter

We reserved a new-build house the other week but have since had second thoughts and told the builder we no longer want to proceed with the purchase. They have told us they need this in writing so I'm just wondering how best to word it?

And yes, we are stupid for reserving it in the first place.

Go about wording it in very much the same way as you would with a forum post. Choose words which convey your intended meaning. And just like a forum post, avoid gratuitously mentioning Hitler and the Nazis. Although I just did it, I probably got away with it. You are less likely to pull it off with a builder when you are trying to cancel a reservation.

I refer to my conversation with [name] on [date]. As requested I am now writing to confirm that we no longer wish to proceed with the purchase of the above property, and we therefore wish to cancel the reservation.

[insert here any additional details, such as return of deposit if relevant]

    Yours faithfully

    etc
