Air Passender Duty- Help!!

I have organised a Hen week end to Barcelona end of May. The flights were booked last year way before Brown announced the tax. Reading posts on here about that time, it was suggested that Ryanair would just take the money from my account. Sounded like the easiest way to deal with it.

However, as yet, no monies taken and I am tempted to call them to see what is happening. Tried calling the 10 pence per minute helpline which I have used before for previous enquiries. This number is now teliing me to use the £1 per minute help line.

Will they come a calling on my bank account nearer the time? Or should I bite the bullet and give them a call?

Thoughts please.

If your ticket was booked prior to a certain date (can't remember exactly, but think it was beginning of December) you don't have to pay it.

Think they'll nearer the time - extra fiver each. Think they've been operating a pay up the day before you fly (or presumably a mug you at the gate if you haven't).

The tax still has to be voted on by mps as part of the budget (highly likely to get through), and is now being opposed by the travel industry http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6397067.stm - dunno whether anything will come it, but you never know.

[edit] Rosie - more likely if you booked AFTER mid-december - Brown announced it around the 5th Dec so the airlines probably included it for any booking made a few days later.

You will get an email telling you roughly when they plan to charge your card for it. I got word last week for flights end of April so maybe 8 wks from departure.

That'll be it! I booked a flight on 8 Dec, was expecting Easyjet to come a-calling, but they never did.
