Purchasing electrical goods in USA with british credit card

in Credit cards
i am thinking of buying a Laptop from USA as the specs over there are so much cheaper than buying here in UK and get a friend to bring it back over with him after his work trip. The question i have is, if I buy it whilst here in UK, get it sent to his work/home address but use a British Credit Card, am i covered should it ever develop a fault? A lot of manufacturers run global warranty services which I guess is a good help. What are the pitfalls/benefits of this method...:o thanks Ian

I was considering ebay stores, amazon or the specialist PC stores as examples like dell.0

Manufacturers global warranty services have nothing to do with using a credit card to buy the product.
If you are buying online, make sure there is no problem with having the computer delivered to his address (i.e. an address other than the address which can be verified as belonging to the credit card used.)0 -
Just be aware it will have a US keyboard, it's not too much of a problem but symbol placement is different. It can be slightly annoying if you're constantly switching between the two.
