    When buying from a private seller, they're not allowed to lie. The car is not as described at all. It's an MOT failure, it's not roadworthy, but that's not the way it was advertised, and lacks specification that was, er, specified. You've taken far too long over this (it doesn't take a mechanic to test a CD multichanger or tyres before you hand over the money, and at that point you should have walked away. Not sure what you can do so much later now that he's no longer on eBay, apart from maybe small claims court if you know his address etc, but this is getting into loads of hassle...
