Hi all my sister laptop the screen is flickering and goes like it in stnadby mode any idear what this would be it only a year old so would it be under warntee

there's 2 bits, an inverter and the backlight itself that go, both involve dismantling the thing
here shows changing the inverter (which it is 99% of the time)

You say your goods may be in warranty? then you shouldn't consider trying to repair it yourself.
You are generally covered by a 12 month warranty from whoever you originally bought your goods from, your initial contract is with them so you should take the fault up with them, not everybody is aware that your goods can be covered for upto 6 years.
Depending on how far into the warranty period your goods are then the Sale Of Goods Act will advise you of how you approach the matter.
