Exchange of Contracts

Hi - bit of an unusual one.
Exchanged contracts on a flat last week after 9 months of sorting out a leasehold extension for the buyer. At exchange of contract the wrong price of £154k was on the document should have been £159 to reflect the money we spent on the lease etc and as negotiated with the buyer. We signed and none of the solicitors said anything and then picked up on this mistake, however solicitors said tough you have to complete. We have proof that the price agreed was £159. Estate agent questioned the buyer and she denied all knowledge of the £159 despite there being a record of this. I think this is really dishonest especially as we have paid a mortgage for 9 months, paid for the extension of the leasehold and we rushed it so she wouldn't have to pay stamp duty. Absolutely gutted. Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks.

Unusual for lease extension costs to be added to offer price. Normally vendor incurs this cost. The purchasers mortgage would have been based on £154k.0

We have proof that the price agreed was £159.
And proof that this information was passed on to your solicitor?RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Thank you both for responding.
Yes - we sent a record of conversations between the estate agent and the buyer (requested from the estate agent) of the buyer confirming she was content with £159 based on the leasehold.
An email was also sent to the solicitor stating the £159 along with some other requirements. 3/4 of the email was actioned but for some reason not that bit.
