Declined Co-Op Bank Standard Current Account

Applied over the phone for a basic account (no Cheque book or overdraft) which was declined.

I've had a mortgage with Co-Op for the last five years and due to remortgage soon, Co-Op offer better mortgage deals to current account holders which I thought I would take advantage off besides viewing my mortgage balance online.

Co-Op advised this could be to defaults/late payments.

I've applied for my credit report and only aware of 1 default by British Gas in June 2007 for £191 with current balance of £41

All credit card, loans have been paid in full and closed.

Once this has been confirmed when I have my credit report can I appeal this?

Recently opened a First Direct account to take advantage of £125 for switching and had no problems.
