Double withdrawal from my Debit Card

I used my debit card in a restaurant and the bill was £27.80. (I have the receipt).A few days later I checked my account and seen that the restaurant had taken out TWO £27.80 withdrawals.
I phoned my bank who told me to contact the restaurant as they should be able to easily restore the money to my account. So I phoned the restaurant and explained this to the lady who said she would pass this on to the manager and he would phone me back in 5 or 10 minutes.
This was last Friday,I'm still awaiting the return call. Should I phone the restaurant again or my bank?
Thanks.

It would be quicker and easier if you can sort it out with the restaurant. Depending on what sort of restaurant it is and if it is local it may be quicker to go and see them. Give them a fair chance to sort the problem out and don't pre-judge them.
If they are uncooperative or otherwise unable or unwilling to help, dispute the second amount with your bank as a duplicate charge. When they see two debits both for £27.80 one immeditaely after each other from the same restaurant they should accept the likelyhood of this being a duplicate chcharge and raise the dispute easily enough.
Are there any additional factors or events surrounding the payment of your bill which could help to explain or understand what happened?0 -
Well that is whyI have given it almost a week so the restaurant had plenty of time to contact me. As. I said I have the receipt, so I think the restaurant should be replying.0

Does the retailers name show next to each transaction or does it just the amount. The transaction is not complete until the retailers name is visible on your statement.
If only the amount is showing at this stage the second amount may just disappear from your account,Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Is it a big or small restaurant? If they haven't called you yet, chances are your details got misplaced and they won't be calling you. If you can go in with the recipt and a copy of your transactions showing both amounts.0 -
I had this last year at a Heathrow hotel.
Same thing, the bank said speak to the hotel who did actually sort it out.
Banks are, in general, unwilling to offer chargebacks as it creates unpaid work for them. But just insist if it doesn't get sorted out.Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0
