No wireless networks found but I am connected

We just changed from aol to BT today and although my PC is connected wirelessly ( it connects automatically when switched on with no problem)it is showing as "No wireless networks found in range" when I click on "view available wireless networks". Clearly there are networks in range, I just can't view what they are. While I can still get online, I won't be able to take advantage of the free BT wireless minutes through BTFon or Openzone as I can't see if there are any available hotspots. I've called the BT tech help twice today and still no joy.

Hidden SSID ?? And how you gonna lug a pc around for wifi hotspots ?????......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Download inssider from metageek , see what it reports. If you are connected then you may have it also connected using ethernet cable, but using BTFon/BT Openzone will only work if someone else has one within your range, I am not sure that BT will allow you to connect your own router using BTOpenzone(since the mac address will be usefully the same i.e. it just changes the most(least) bit of the mac address4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Thanks to you both - I wasn't planning to lug the PC anywhere! Just thought if there was a hotspot available to me I could use that for accessing iplayer. I am not on an unlimited usage package and thought that utilising the unlimited FON/Openzone wifi minutes might be a way to access video without it eating up my package allowance.0

You may struggle to use Fon with iPlayer. Fon hotspots are limited bandwidth, enough for emails and basic browsing but probably not enough for streaming video to iPlayer. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -

I didn't realise that, thanks for the info. It helps to know that as it means it doesn't matter so much if I'm not able to view available networks from the PC.0 -
Fon and OZ usually use only 0.5 Mbps of the host router bandwidth I believe0
