Going on a big holiday - which card?

How do I get around carrying several thousands of pounds of cash?
Not only is this slightly dangerous from the risk stand point but I've also heard that boarder control in countries like America, Australia and New Zealand don't like you carrying a large amount of hard cash in as it looks suspicious. Either you're going to stay there or you're conducting something illegal.0 -
Yikes! Everyone is so suspicious these days.
I remember re-mortgaging a few years back and because I had to book the mortgage in advance, I had to give a best guess on what I needed to borrow. As it happened, I was a bit out and the new bank were advancing me £250 more than the redemption figure.
I had to comeplete a form saying what I would be doing with the £250.
I told them I would be having my hair done. LOL"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -

If you need a credit card, I would recommend you to have a look at the Nationwide credit card which offers commission free purchases as well.
I used the Nationwide card in the USA and Canada a few years ago. However, I was under the impression that it had changed and now you only got fee free purchases within the EEC, which New Zealand obviously isn't!3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
Nationwide have changed it and charge for use, or at least so my OH tells me0

I would take Halifax Clarity credit card as the main one & also take Nationwide credit card & the post office one cc as backups.
I would also open a Halifax rewards current a/c & register this & the Clarity cc a/c for online business.
Load up your rewards current a/c with money so that you can transfer money this to Clarity credit card whenever you make cash withdrawls to minimise charges.
You can also get £5 for every month for your Rewards current a/c as along as there has been a deposit of £1000 per month. You can take out this £1000 immediately & use this to deposit every month to qualify for the £5.00.
Also you can get £5 every month as long as you have spent £300 on the clarity card.0 -
I don't want to change my main account from FD for the sake of a few shekels though."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Also, if I start applying for three new credit cards, won't it set off an alarm somewhere?"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
