Debit card charge

Hi, I have just paid a company over £1000 to organize an event for me. I checked my bank balance two weeks later and found no money had been taken yet. I phoned the company and they said they have received payment, but still no money has left my account. I paid them using my debit card. Does anyone know how long the bank have to charge my account or is it possible that they have overlooked this?
Thanks

The authorisation will last 6 months (so they can charge your card for 6 months), however the debt can be pursued for up to 6 years through alternative means.0

Something isn't adding up here if the company say they have received payment (rather than that they have had the payment authorised) but it hasn't left your account. So where has the payment they have received come from? Have they mistakenly put your charge through against another customer's card? Good luck for you if they have, but be ready for them to eventually come to take the money from you when the other customer complains!0
