Mortgage question

Hi,
This is probably a silly question but I'm having a last minute panic - I'm meant to be completing on Thursday but now I'm worried about my mortgage:
I'm a first time buyer and have had the official mortgage offer in the post and my solicitor has seen it but I've not signed anything and I couldn't see anything to sign so I didn't query it before but now I'm having a last minute panic that I'm meant to have signed something. It's with Santander and I've had confirmation off them for a minor change to the mortgage so it seems like it's all going ahead and I'm assuming my solicitor would have said if I needed to sign anything but I guess i'm just looking for some reassurance?

What do you mean by that?
Is this just a date you have been working towards? If so it is highly unlikely you will complete on Thursday!
You haven't exchanged contracts have you? (Signing a contract does not legally commit you, but it can't be exchanged to create the commitment unless it has first been signed.)
You shouldn't have exchanged contracts without a mortgage offer. Your solicitor will have to get you to sign a mortgage deed and request the money from Santander.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
I didn't have to sign the mortgage deed for my mortgage with c&g. Maybe you don't need to either? Call your solicitor and check to put your mind at rest.0

I think you did - otherwise how did C&G protect their security at the Land Registry? It would have been an unsecured loan rather than a mortgage. Your solicitor would have got you to sign the deed along with a number of other documents and you probably have forgotten that you signed it.RICHARD WEBSTER

Ah maybe you're right Richard. I think I may be getting confused with the fact that I didn't sign anything to actually apply for the mortgage which really surprised me at the time. OP should definitely speak to solicitor then!0

I took out a mortgage with Santander 12 months ago and I had to sign the mortgage deed. While my solicitor had seen the faxed copy of the mortgage offer, it took 4 attempts at posting before the hard copy arrived at his office so that I could sign the original copy of the deed.0

Panic over I must have signed whatever was needed for my mortgage as I did complete today
Yes I exchanged last week but just had a last minute panic that something would still go wrong and the only thing I could think of was the mortgage. Sorry to bother you and thanks for your comments - I figured I was just being stupid. 0
