hi peeps,

My friend was persuaded to change her Bt landline at the post office the other day to theirs. Does anyone know if she can cancel this because Bt have said she's going to lose her answer phone. She is mentally frail and the post office have said she can't cancel the contract and go back to Bt.

I thought all these things had some sort of cooling off period written into them.

Thanks for any replies.

  • 14 Days cooling off period applies here. you can instruct BT not to allow switch over, call post office and tell them the switch is not going to go through and to cancel.

DSR does not apply if the sale was done face to face. The PO's own T&C's will be those applying, so time is of the essence.

BT have mislead your friend - you still get 1571 type message service with the post office.

And your friend will be getting £50 free credit on her bill (asuming the order goes through before 31/3/12)

Thank you macman and Quentin for your replies. I'm going to have a word with the person who runs the day centre she goes to to see if they can sort it out for her.

Just to say a word of thanks for all your contributions in helping to solve this problem. The lady warden at my friends day centre has reversed the situation so she's now back with BT.
