Card Protection policy

My 3-year card protection policy was due to expire, and I have been looking for alternative providers for a more competitive quote (£74 for 3 years with CPP). I've had this in place for the last 6 years purely because I've got so many cards and often travel overseas; if immediate action is required in the case of theft it's much easier to notify one agent than think about what may have gone missing etc. For me it's one less hassle to think about, but now I'm wondering whether this is an expensive luxury.

The fact that there are so few providers made me question why this is - and then I saw this Which? article .

Any views on this? And for those of that do have this, which provider, and if you have needed to use it, are you happy with the service?

TIA

My view is that it is an expensive luxury and i wouldn't pay for it. But, i don't travel abroad a lot so can see your point. Why not just take 2 cards when you travel, do you have to take all your cards ? As long as you're organised at home and have records of your numbers etc, it shouldn't be a problem.

I think they're a waste of space. I'd rather just ring my self if i lose my cards.

That's exactly what I do, but the fear is that if my home is I'm burgled whilst away I'm at a real disadvantage. I keep nothing of high value, or that cannot be replaced at home but there are credit cards. In truth it's also handy to be able to store details of loyalty cards too as they are like cash.

When a friend was burgled - having left the house for all of 3 hours - it proved so difficult tracking down what was missing, they asked for me for the details of my card protection plan for peace of mind.

I was burgled 3 years ago whilst we were asleep and my handbag was stolen with all my cards. I kept all my card details separately and called them as soon as i found out. It took about 15 minutes. Depends whether you want to pay for the cover, obviously some people think it's worth it. If it gives you peace of mind then i suppose it is worth it :)

I never had you down as a girlie (or a blokey with a handbag).
