Small mail order businesses generally, who cant strike low priced deals, will suffer too and it will help negate the beneficial influence of the innerwebs on their development.
Finally, spare a thought for eBayers.
I think that there's both supply and demand side hits. I can see other businesses moving into the business mail arena as well as some substitute effect - film companies offering more downloads rather than through the post. However on the supply side I think eBayers and very small businesses will be hit hard.
On the demand side, other models can come in to serve the bulk of the population in towns, but anyone living in a remote area could experience postal apartheid. This is what this system is set up to avoid, but firms will look for cheaper options to please the bulk of their clients and sacrifice their hard-to-reach customers. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I could be termed a "Buy to Stamper" and people could complain how we baby boomers have bought up all of the stamps and that the young can only afford to send e-mails.
You mean you'd be a sort of 'Buy 2 Letter' ?

the increase in prices (which i assume will also be lumped onto business mail and not just the three people in the country who still send personal letters) will make it even more expensive for HMRC to send me a new PAYE coding notice every other day, and then writing the next day to change it back to what it was before. i wonder how much costs would have to go up before they bothered to fix their computer system.
nope different rates for business, plus DSA
