Wonder if it will effect prices for small items on amazon? Many are posted out free of charge via royal mail.
I'm assuming it hits all prices, not just stamp type mail?0 -
I am giving serious thought to investing in stamps. I feel that I could get a 15-20% return in a year and that's better than anything that the bank will give me. Being ahead of the curve, there's a whole world of investment options out there.
I could be termed a "Buy to Stamper" and people could complain how we baby boomers have bought up all of the stamps and that the young can only afford to send e-mails.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? The more you think about this, the more it effects.
It's not just sending personal cards, it's buying them on the net in the first place. As rugged stated, Lovefilm. Amazon.
Hopefully we'll see less junkmail too.
Wonder if this will feed into inflation though? Surely it will, considering things like DVD rental is included in the basket of goods.0 -

Too right. I'm already planning my visit to Costco (where they sell below the price in Post Offices) to stock up - which is where I got the germ of an idea for my not very funny joke...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Is there a limit to how many you can buy before the increase?0

There will be plenty of victims - not everyone sits with their eyes turning ever more square from being glued to a screen.
Already the book trade (remember books?) has been hard hit by successive rises in post costs and the secondhand side of the trade once used to be a valuable export business. Not any longer.
Small mail order businesses generally, who cant strike low priced deals, will suffer too and it will help negate the beneficial influence of the innerwebs on their development.
Finally, spare a thought for eBayers.
Still, the government's lying inflation figures will remain healthy, so no need to worry, eh?0 -
I just bought around 18 months supply of 1st & 2nd class for the company today, which ain't much nowadays, around £150. Mostly use email & pdf docs. instead now. There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0
