its an acer aspire one, there a lot of people with exactly the same problem if you have a search online.0

The Aspire, as a range, covers several models, which one in particular?
Have you pointed out this "common fault" to John Lewis or Acer? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
yeah i did the first time, thats why they sent it to a third party to have it looked at the first time. dont have it with me at the minute so dont have the model number0

Simple answer no.
John Lewis could choose to give you a refund, but it would be proportional due to use and with technology residuals after nearly 18 months will be poor on a £200-250 device.
Its broken. Its in warranty till September. Its March. Get it fixed and worry about it later.0 -

There are eight main models in the Acer Aspire One model range: D225, Happy, 553, 522, Education, Happy 2, D257 and the 722, with several sub-range models as well. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
*Reminds me of someone asking me for help using their TV and going "it's THE sony bravia. Got it four years ago."*
OP: If you're on your second fault, get it repaired, or explain your position and suggest they exchange it for something else, or give you some towards something else, and they get your laptop repaired under warranty, then sell it themselves as a used item, or do whatever they need to with it.
Or hope you get a third fault so they'll do that anyway.
You're best off exchanging it for something else if you can, because you're getting it sorted out under warranty in your second year, while most places won't even touch it after that length of time.0
