Replacing bath with shower - fair quote?

Hi, my friend has had a quote from a mutual friend of ours for some work - she's like to use him as she trusts him in her home and she's a single Mum, so thought he wouldn't take advantage. However, it seems a bit over the top - If it is reasonable then I take it all back!

The work is as follows (in a TINY bathroom, hence removal of bath to make room):
Remove current bath
Remove tiles
Skim walls where necessary
Install shower cubicle (existing over-bath shower to remain in same place)
Replace current radiator (but staying in the same place)
Re-tile walls (half height, full height in shower cubicle)
Tile floor
(Toilet and sink to remain in situ)

Quote: £2.2K including tiles and shower cubicle

Any thoughts?

My immediate reaction is that it probably is OK. It very much depends on what is being done to create the shower area, which shower cubicle is being supplied (I think I could find just a cubicle that cost £2.2k without trying too hard) and what tiles and adhesives are being used.
    A house isn't a home without a cat.

I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

like Bob, i wouldn't say this is excessive.

bear in mind that removing a bath may put off propsective buyers in the future unless there is one elsewhere in the house.
  • Tell her not to do it! Shower+kids= total nightmare, water everywhere.
