I think this is a mountain out of a molehill...
Send them an email AND a letter, politely confirming them rooms
"Dear <hotel>,
As requested, and as agreed on <date>, I am writing to confirm that we have booked the dining room for the ceremony and the function room for the reception at <time> on <date>.
We have paid a deposit of £500 on <date> to reserve these rooms, and as agreed, will be paying the balance of £X on <date>.
I am very much looking forward to using your services on our special day,
