Job offer but not so sure what to do?

I got a phone call out of the blue today from a guy who's starting up a joinery business, wouldn't tell me how exactly he got my number but knew everything about where I had worked and my experience which has made me nervous, although he did seem genuine enough and knew what he was talking about, he said it would only be a couple of days a week for now until he gets going and more than likely be cash in hand. I've to go and see him tomorrow to confirm.
I don't know what to do, I want to keep legal and don't want it mucking up JSA, but I need a job.

He was to knowledgeable for JSA, I thought that myself, but he went into details about suppliers and various different things that unless you are in the industry you wouldn't know about.
I may be paranoid but what I though was it may be my previous employer trying to catch me out with the JSA people as I am in the process of taking them to court.0 -

If it is less than 16 hours a week then you can legally work and claim JSA as well, you just have to declare it to the Jobcentre.
You would need to set yourself up as a sole trader and pay Tax and National Insurance but this is a very simple process and as far as HMRC are concerned they don't care if you are claiming JSA as well, you just need to declare it when you complete your tax return.
It is unlikely that the Jobcentre would call and try to trick you as this could be construed as them inducing you to commit fraud.0 -
He may be genuine enough, I'll know tomorrow I guess.0

Found the rat, a write up in a newspaper in fact, the guy has been declared bankrupt at court and ran a number of businesses into the ground owing people millions. New this was to good to be true.0
