Hastings Direct - Warning - Recurring Payment
Hi all, just a quick note to warn others about a recent experience with hastings direct taking a card payment;
I recently made a change to my policy, and was asked if i was buying buy card, to which i replied that i was. The operator then Said something along the lines of "the card details will be stored in order to take any payments due, either before or subsequent to the termination of the policy" I nearly said yes, but realised that she was asking for permission to set up recurring payment. Expecting their to be a problem, i said No, to which she said OK.
Just mentioning it as i think its a pretty cheeky thing to blast a question in like that to which i imagine a lot of people would unwittingly answer in the affirmative, then get screwed over later on.

Whilst it can be a nuisance if you want to go elsewhere (see this if the card issuer gets iffy http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/debt_e/debt_banking_e/stopping_debit_and_credit_card_payments.htm) if they turn out to still be cheaper its not a problem.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
