Our e-payslips are not sent by email. We log into a website to read them, with the payslips appearing on the website about 3 days before we get paid. I prefer to read them at home because it stops nosey colleagues peering over my shoulder at the screen.

The person doing payroll will know your name, address, date of birth, ni number, bank details - so what on earth would happen if they also know an email address which you can set up just for your payslips.

This is such a non-issue to be getting your knickers in a twist about.

Thought I should say that the OP was probably more concerned about the security issues around the payroll person working from home on the payroll (with all the personal data you mention) rather than the addition of an email address to that list.

But the payroll person at home already HAS all that information, regardless of whether or not they send the payslip by email. So the fact that they work from home is irrelevant to the point the OP is making.

    I agree, it's a fuss about nothing.

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

That person has that information AT HOME. It was a separate issue being raised as an aside.

I don't think it should be a worry as long as the person is treating it in confidence and securely.

I have received a reply saying that they don't do that and I should provide them with my personal email address. I am not happy giving them my personal email address, as I don't think this is a secure means for delivering the payslips, besides, company cannot guarantee that I will have access to the internet.

Stupid attitude TBH. Your personal email is no more insecure than your work email.

And I do not believe for one minute you won't have access to the internet. You can even go to the local library and get free internet access and virtually everyone has it on their mobile phone.

    Sorry, not a sufficient reason.

and you could, of course, set up a unique email address to receive these communications!
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

I get my payslips electronically from work (you can opt for electronically or paper) and I receive them at my personal e-mail address.

When setting up this up, I was asked to create a password which only I and the person doing payroll would know. This password is used to lock my electronical payslip in a document and the only way to unlock it/read it, is to type in the password. Everytime I want to open the document (whether saved to my laptop or not), I have to enter that password.

This is very secure and I made sure that my password for this is unique and nothing like any of my other passwords, which you're supposed to do anyways. :D
