Ant, Its a number. It usually means nothing to any of the credit card companies. So let break it down step by step.
1. How long have been on the electoral roll at your address?
2. How old are you?
3. What have you applied for?
Lets start with the basics there and move on to see what can help0 -
Hi thanks for that here goes
1. this address since 1/12/11 previous address 4yrs previous to that 2 yrs.
2. 39
3. barclay cards 1.11.11 and 3.3.12 preselected now know preselected counts for nothing.0 -
Ok so a fairly new address, has the register been updated and does it show on your file?
have you checked all your reports just to make sure there are no debts anywhere?
Silly question but I have to ask are you within your limit at all times with the bank as going over with some banks mark you as late marker for going over the agreed limit.
I would be tempted to hold off on the applying as this may be affecting your file.
Other then that I'm afraid you are too perfect. You have no credit anywhere therefore you have no credit history and need a credit card, but with no credit history you can't get a credit card!
Great isn't it. You may have fallen into this trap without realising it. Was there any reason why the barclay card was so great? I'm thinking you may be best speaking to your bank first and see what they will offer0 -
Hi new address since nov 11 and it is on electoral and credit file.
No Debt anywhere else.
£100.00 overdraft which has never gone into tried barclays for credit cards as i thought i would have a better chance of acceptance as i have a current account with them.I dont need credit card but was advised in the bank to get one to build up credit history.
Thanks for your reply once again as you say i think i am in a trap but will try in october/novenber for barclays initial and hopefully will be accepted.

Try waiting a few more months as more then 23 in 6 months raises a flag warning.0

Have you ever had any credit agreements aside from the mobile and overdraft? Any cards/catalogues/loans in the last 6years?
If not and if your own bank have refused then the next logical step would be a subprime card just to start building up a history - see here - 'Bad Credit' Credit Cards: Best cards for poor credit scorers...
If you apply for one of those and are still refused then I would wait a few months before applying for anything else.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
