White Lines on my black wallpaper.

Good Morning,
We bought some wallpaper for our feature wall (Black paper with Large White flowers) my partner hung the wall paper but we are now having problems trying to hide the joins, when you rub your hand over the paper you can not feel any joins but we are left with white lines the only thing we can think of is that it is the edge/back of the paper which is white.
Would any of you very knowledgeable people be able to offer a way of masking the lines.
Many Thanks for any help.

We found we had the same problem this week after papering with some dark brown paper for a feature wall too. It seems its the edge of the paper which, as you say, is showing the white backing paper. Our paper was relatively cheap, so can only assume it's not great quality and a more expensive product would be of higher quality.

We though me might be able to use a felt tip and colour match the paper down the joins, but in hindsight we're not too fussed and just living with it.

Disappointing post - from the title I thought it would be about a gravity defying coke session!

    yup us too!
having to live with it. After the first room, thought it might have been shrinkage and seeing the pale wall behind, so for the second room I painted the wall where the joins would be, but made no difference. For room 3 (there's no room 3 :( ), i'll felt-tip the ends of the rolls before hanging!

Just had the same problem.I ended up buying a really dark grey (graphite is the shade) powder eye shadow and used the foam coated applicator to run a thin layer up the join. Sounds weird but it worked, you have to get really close up and look to see the slight difference in colour.
  • unfortunately guys this is a common problem (normally the decorators hanging skills that get questioned) but it is (in most cases) down to the paper, yes, colouring in the edges is the only real solution now its up.

My weapon of choice for dealing with this is one of those watercolour drawing pencils that you use like a normal pencil and can then smudge it with a damp cloth. This helps to blend the edges to make them look almost indetectable.
