Hi everyone
My partner and I are going through a full application to Halifax using a mortgage broker. We sent in all the relevant documents to be checked against our application form. However, Halifax have requested an employers reference from my partners employers and I just wondered if this is normal as its a worrying time as it is. We have reserved on a new build and the home report was completed today. Just wanted to know if the employers reference was anything to worry about as we have reserved on the property, paid our fee to the mortgage broker and paid for the home report. Which has all mounted up so far.
Thanks in advance for any advice

Nope, it's stamdard for the halifax. We went though a mortgage application with Halifax through a broker for a property we were looking at getting last year (which we didnt pursue - long story). Halifax contact HR directly asking for a reference and I was contacted (by HR) to authorise the request for the reference. Halifax also contacted my Husbands accountant for an accounts and business reference.
Nothing to worrry about. Good luck woth the house purchase...0 -
